Treatments and Care

Reasons for choosing to have your treatment at a Swindon & Marlborough NHS Trust hospital.

  • Our MRSA rates are low. The trust has one of the lowest MRSA infection rates in the country. (Health Protection Agency figures for Oct 05 - Apr 06: top 10% of all hospitals)
  • Our waiting times are 11 weeks maximum for a routine outpatient appointment and 22 weeks maximum for a surgical procedure and we are constantly reducing the waiting times.
  • The environment we offer is brand new, state-of-the-art and designed for the needs of patients. One in three of our beds is in a single room. All have en suite facilities and each bed has its own TV, radio and communication system.
  • We have ample car parking and charges are kept the same as the local council's. In special cases, concessions can be given.
  • Our maternity unit was rated in the top five best places in the country to give birth by the Babyworld web site.
  • For health and safety, our trust is the only one in the country to have twice achieved the British Safety Council’s five star award and the prestigious Sword of Honour award.
  • We never stop trying to do things better and encourage innovative ideas – such as our award-winning bar-coded wristband which ensures important patient details are always available.
  • We listen to you. Our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) has thousands of contacts with patients and the public every year. We learn from praise and complaints alike to improve our services and care.
