Hospital Radio

Hospital Radio is a registered charity and a member of the National Association of Hospital Broadcasting (HBA)

The Society is staffed entirely by volunteers and is totally self supporting, receiving no funding from either Central or Local Government, the Swindon & Marlborough NHS Trust or any other body. We are dependent on private donations and fund raising to keep our service “on air”

Chaplaincy

Hospital Radio volunteers provides music, news and entertainment directly to the bedsides in the Great Western Hospital. Hospital Radio also has a regular visiting service to the patients during their stay in hospital.

Our members strongly believe patients hearing their favourite piece of music and a friendly voice at their bedside can contribute to their well being and recovery. The members of Hospital Radio are very keen to become more involved with the Great Western Hospital.

Hospital Radio will be relocating their studios within the hospital later this year.

Benefits to the patients

  • Important to patients is a friendly visitor and to have their requests played
  • A wide variety of music is played to appeal to as many people as possible
