Wiltshire Breast Screening Service - Locations

Main Department
The main department is situated on the ground floor of The Great Western Hospital. The entire Wiltshire Breast Screening service is coordinated from offices located here. This is also where all of the films from the mobile unit are developed and reported.

When attending for screening we advise that you do not leave valuables in the changing cubicles. Only bring with you what you can carry.

Mobile Units
We currently have two mobile units. Each unit is a purpose built trailer with a dedicated x-ray room, a reception area and a small kitchen. Approximately 70 women per day are invited to attend. Each unit is staffed by two senior radiographers.

The units are moved around North Wiltshire and will stay at each location for between 1 to 5 months, usually at community hospitals or health centres.

If you are invited to attend a mobile unit please note, that due to space limitations and patient comfort, we do not allow men onto the mobile units. For health and safety reasons, children are also not allowed onto the mobile units.

The mobile units are reached by stairs and we would ask that if you have any concerns about access by stairs, please give us a call (on 01793 604036).
