Wiltshire Breast Screening Service - Introduction |
The Wiltshire Breast Screening Service offers routine breast screening to all women aged 50 to 70 who are registered with a GP practice in the area. The service is based at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. We also have two mobile units which travel around north Wiltshire to 15 different sites. |
BREAST SCREENING
When you reach the age of between 50 to 53 years you will automatically be sent an appointment. This may be to attend the main department at Great Western or one of our mobile units. Further appointments are sent every three years until age 70. The results will be sent both to you and to your GP. If you have any concerns between screening please contact your GP. Occasionally some women need to attend for a second appointment. This may be for extra x-rays or for an ultrasound. This is quite routine as the standard pictures are sometimes not enough for the doctor to give a clear result. Wiltshire Breast Screening Service is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and can be contacted on 01793 604036 |
