Acute Assessment Unit (AAU)

The Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) is a short stay unit designed to assess your initial care needs and treatment. You will be seen on arrival at the unit and meet the nurse who will be looking after you for the first hours of you stay.

Please ensure that you provide the nurses with all the information they ask you for, including contact telephone numbers for your family.

Please arrange for any valuable to be taken home wherever possible.

We request that relatives and carers telephone for information about a patient after 10am to avoid our busy time. Please speak to the nurse in charge who will be happy to provide information about visiting arrangements.
